Heat pumps are out-of-sight, out-of-mind. People don't think about them until they smell musty, sound rough, or stop heating properly - and by then, you've been spending money on a system that's been getting worse for years.
What a proper service includes
Filter clean and inspection. Coil deep clean (this is what removes the musty smell). Refrigerant levels checked and topped up if needed. Fan and motor inspection. Drainage check. Electrical safety check. Performance test.
Why it pays for itself
A heavily clogged unit can use 25% more power than a clean one. It also circulates whatever's living on the coil through your home - bacteria, mould, dust. Servicing keeps your air healthier and your bill lower.
How often
Annually is the minimum for most homes. Twice a year is worth it if you have pets, allergies or run the heat pump heavily.
